COMPOSITE ITEMs
Much like Composite Resources,
Composite Items allow you to gather together existing library
items to create a new, compound item that will save time when
pricing work. They can be useful for compound rates such as
external walls; foundations; roofs; even a complete extension
if you find youself using the same items each time. When copied
to a bill page they can remain as single items or expanded
into their component parts.
Key Features
- Composites can contain as many items as you need
- They can be amended at any time
- Can be expanded into their component items on the bill
page
Composite Items are items which have a special status but are
listed together with the other items in your item library.
You can identify them by their bold No / ID in the left column
An example of a composite item could be an external wall, where
you select the brickwork, timber frame and plasterboard items
from an existing set of library items to create a new composite
item.
Composite items can save a lot of time but make sure you also
fully understand their potential complexity.
Notes
- Expanding the composite on the bill page cannot be reversed
- Composite items cannot be nested
- Items used in a composite cannot be deleted without first removing
its use in the composite
- Changing the composite build up in the library will NOT update the
BOQ copy, you have to make any changes on the bill page
Tips
- Use composite items to save time selecting individual items
that are normally selected together in a job.
- Use composite items to build complex structures such as extensions, garages etc.. that can be added as a single item on the bill page (use Templates for full breakdown)
